About Lori
I started Doggie Duties in February 2006 as a part time business. I had been pet sitting for friends while they were on vacation, and I really enjoyed it! It’s great to see pets who are excited about someone visiting them. That feeling became addictive, and here I am!
The business began to grow, and in August of 2008 I gave up my traditional job to take care of your pets full time. It’s been a wonderful experience and I haven’t looked back! Doggie Duties became a limited liability company in 2010, and I am currently looking for a part time pet sitter to help out. I hope to expand the service area and also offer new services soon. There is always something exciting going on with the business, so be sure to check out the blog for recent news!
I grew up in southern Indiana with pets around me. My family had cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, fish, a turtle, and even skunks! I currently have one dog, Izzy, a mixed breed female, and a small 5 fish aquarium.
I am a member of Pet Sitters International and became accredited through them in April 2007. What exactly does that mean? I completed PSI’s course for pet sitter education, which covers many topics, including pet care, health and nutrition, and business and office procedures. There is an exam required for completions, and I passed with a score of 98%!
I am bonded and insured through Business Insurers of the Carolinas. I have also completed the Red Cross Pet First Aid course.
About Lauren
Lauren Moore is a 23 year old singer/songwriter who lives downtown with her two best friends, Guinness (a 3 year old Labradoodle) and Grendel (a 1 year old Chinese Crested). Having been a dog owner her entire life, her love for animals started early. Lauren first began pet sitting in 2001, and realized then that working with animals was the type of job for her! With her years of experience pet sitting, working at pet stores, doggy daycares, and boarding/grooming facilities, Lauren feels she has a well rounded knowledge and overall awareness of what your pet needs! In her spare time, Lauren enjoys working on her solo project, a Synthpop/Sci-fi concept album called ‘Verse (http://www.thesixtyone.com/nopowerintheverse), playing video games, and taking her dogs to the dog park, to play-dates with friends, or hiking. Lauren joined Doggie Duties in August 2010.
